Welcome
Situated in the South East of England and with a population of
one million plus, Surrey is one of the smallest yet most urbanised
of England's counties. This is due mainly to it's close proximity
to London (Greater London borders to the north west of Surrey) and
the high numbers of commuters who travel to work in the City each
day. However, Surrey is by no means over crowded with 84% of it's
area still undeveloped countryside, rich in rolling downland, ancient
woodland and picturesque villages. In 1958 the Surrey Hills area
was designated an area of "Outstanding Natural Beauty",
just one of thirty-seven in England. more
